Yo yo,
What is the best muscle mass gainer? An interesting question indeed.
So many choices, so many options, so many theories and there are always new mass gainers coming out. The supposed next best thing on the market. Truth be told, there isn’t a specific ‘best muscle mass gainer’.
This is because you are looking for specific things in a mass gainer. You might prioritise protein in a mass gainer.
You might prioritse calories, or are even focused more on the carbs. You also might be focused on the price.
Different mass gainers are higher in different categories my friend. This is why you’ll be looking for hours, trying to find a supposed ‘best of all time’ mass gainer. On top of this, influencers have their own opinion and may even be sponsored/encouraged to say that their mass gainer is the best.
Just breathe my friend. Don’t stress yourself out on such a thing such as mass gainers. They can be great, but you don’t need to dedicate so much time to picking one… because I’ve already picked one for you.
Of course, this is just my opinion, but I will give my reasons as to why I believe this is the best mass gainer for most people. This could change, as all things can. However, right now, I think this will be the preferred option for most people.
I’m also going to highlight something that I think will be of good use to you when looking at the labels.
Horley Mass Gainer
This is it my friend. The Horley Mass Gainer.
The macros on this are amazing. For a serving of 92g, you’ll be getting 385 cals, 35g protein, 40.7g carbs (8.7g sugars) and 8.7g fat.
It’s great because the fats are not high, the carbs are a good amount, the protein is great and the calories are good too. Many other mass gainers have their serving size well beyond 100g, but their protein and calories are not as high as Horley’s.
On top of this, Horley’s ingredient count for a mass gainer is very good. There aren’t a bunch of funny-looking ingredients and there aren’t too many ingredients as well. This is quite surprising for a mass gainer, as normally there are a lot of ingredients.
The price per kg is impressive too. Alongside this, Horley’s mass gainer has 4.5g serving of creatine. Creatine can assist with boosting your strength, muscle performance and power. So that’s just another benefit of this mass gainer.
The only thing I wish was better was the caloric amount. Just to really emphasise the idea of mass. However, maybe you like the caloric amount and that’s whats important at the end of the day.
What might slightly bug you is the flavour variety. At the time of writing, there are only two flavours available. These are Chocolate and Vanilla.
No banana. No Caramel. No Cookies and cream. Just straight up Chocolate and Vanilla.
Maybe more flavours will come out, but right now it’s only chocolate and Vanilla.

Being Mindful of Labels…
Yes, be mindful of labels my friend.
A lot of mass gainers will put a high amount of protein and calories on the front of their product as a way of luring you in to buy. You see a high amount of calories and protein at the front and think “that’s the one, look at the protein man”.
Don’t be fooled. Now, they’re not lying to you, but I’m going to ask you something.
Turn around the product. Look at the back. Look at the nutritional label. Look at the servings.
Have you seen it? It’s alright, I’ll explain.
It’s the serving size. To get the calories and protein you see at the front, the serving size in most cases is very, very high.
A serving size could be damn near 250g. PER SERVE.
If you’re struggling to imagine how much that is, just get 250g of flour and place it on a scale. Do you see how much that is?
Yet when you break it down to a gram-by-gram basis, the macros are not even that impressive. You could get 60 grams of protein from a 250g serving from one, or 35g protein from a serving of 92g. What sounds more appealing?
Okay, let’s do just a little bit more math to get to the point. Let’s divide 250g by 5, which is 50g. This means we also have to divide 60 by 5, which is 12g.
Let’s also divide 92g by 2, which gives us 46 grams a serving. This means we must also divide 35g by 2, which is 17g of protein.
When you boil it down, and really put the sizings in perspective, you’ll see that some of these mass gainers are not as impresive as you may think. Try this out when comparing potential mass gainers.
Alternatives
But hey, you may realise that you don’t even want a mass gainer, and are thinking of any alternatives.
Well for one, I would suggest going for a standard protein powder.
However, if you don’t even want a supplement at all (which is absolutely fine and probably ideal for most people), I would strongly suggest that you to check out a previous post I’ve made on alternatives to mass gainers and mass gainer shake ideas. I went over some high-calorie smoothies and milkshakes that you could use.
They’re high in protein and calories (of course they are). Furthermore, they don’t contain funny ingredients, so check it out my friend. I’ve got you.
Not the key…
I will always repeat this, because it is the truth. Mass gainers are not the key to muscle. “What is the best muscle mass gainer?” When asking yourself this, don’t approach the question thinking that this is the sole determinant of your gains.
It’s just a supplement.
A supplement.
An addition to what you’re already doing, to help you out. To fill in the missing calories. To top up on the protein and provide you with some carbs. To promote the caloric surplus that is needed to build muscle.
You can’t build muscle on mass gainers alone, and it’s essential that you remember this. Ok, I know you understand now. You’re smart.
Closing
Well done for making it this far. I appreciate the time you’ve spent reading this, my friend. I hope you were able to learn something.
We went over Horley’s mass gainer, uncovering the trick about labels, pointed you to some alternatives and reminded you that mass gainers are not the key to muscle growth.
I hope you have an excellent rest of your day, or night, and work hard to whatever endeavour you’re striving for.
I know I’ll see you next time my friend, and I’m looking forward to it. Until we meet again.
